Evidence-Based Treatment

I offer comprehensive services in the following evidence based treatments. I am passionate about delivering treatment that is flexible and tailored to your unique needs while remaining tethered to the research base. To collaboratively determine the most appropriate treatment plan, I use validated symptom measures, conduct a thorough clinical interview, and assess specific goals for treatment. Please inquire further about which treatment option may be most appropriate for you.

Cognitive behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is the gold standard of treatment for a variety of clinical concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, insomnia, and many more. It teaches you tools to help override habitual thinking and feeling patterns. I am certified in CBT by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and specialize in treating anxiety disorders and OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention.

Dialectical and Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a state of the art evidence based treatment for individuals struggling with emotion dysregulation, which results in difficulty managing intense emotions, relationships, and impulsivity. It focuses on skills training in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. In order to be enrolled in full adherent DBT, you must be involved in weekly individual therapy, skills training, and phone coaching. In addition, I participate in a weekly consultation team.

Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT)

ACT is a groundbreaking treatment that combines value-based behavioral change with mindfulness practice to increase tolerance of unpleasant internal experiences. It uses experiential exercises to increase psychological flexibility, which is defined as the ability to be open, present, aware, and to change when it serves as your best option. It has a robust research base for a number of problems, including anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and psychosis. As the Secretary-Treasurer of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science Southern California chapter, I regularly provide ACT trainings and consultation to the community.

Acceptance & mindfulness Based behavioral Therapies

The goal of both mindfulness and CBT is to distance oneself from thoughts and feelings and to find a position where they hold less weight, thereby making you less susceptible to being drawn into them. Thus, mindfulness seamlessly dovetails with CBT. This clinical approach is integrative and experiential. I apply exercises in session that transcend the bounds of traditional talk therapy to instill deeper healing.

The mindfulness-based approaches I integrate include Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP), Mindfulness Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), and Compassion Focused Treatment (CFT). These treatments are considered the new “third wave” of CBT. The popularity of these approaches are growing in concert with their emerging empirical evidence.
